A passion for and energy to get things done

I have experience working in a range of project management environments (I.e. agile, scrum, kanban, and waterfall). I believe managing and owning a product and business’ success is dependent, but not limited, to the following steps…

Discovery

Establish and understand the goal we are trying to achieve. Ensure this goal meets the overall product and business vision and mission. Most important, communicate and engage with all stakeholders and teams involved — it is crucial to build alignment and investment from these key parties. Gathering data and requirements is also a part of the Discovery phase. This includes conducting data-gathering exercises such as: competitive and industry analysis; user research; business requirements.

Design & Development

Leveraging the information gathered in the Discovery phase, I work with our design and development teams to define and build the product. This can include but is not limited to: designing low to mid-fidelity wireframes and clickable prototypes; documenting user journeys, user stories, and task flows; and coordinating cross-team demos and stakeholder review sessions.

I have worked with multiple frameworks to prioritize the work and features our product team focus on. One framework I utilize and see the most success from is a Value vs. Complexity Quadrant. This method requires the team and stakeholders to quantify the value and complexity of each feature, enhancement, fix, update, etc. of a product initiative or project. Value represents the benefit our stakeholders, customers, and business will gain. Complexity represents the effort necessary to achieve this. I work across the business, development, and design teams to complete this chart. I build a comprehensive product roadmap based on the prioritization matrix produced from this exercise. I strive to ensure the roadmap meet the needs of the product team, are scheduled on a realistic timeline, and effectively achieve the goals established in the Discovery phase.

Delivery, Measurement, & Support

In a fast-paced, ever-changing digital space, it is challenging to design and develop a “perfect” product. Data and insights, KPIs, OKRs, gathered analytics, users’ feedback, observations, and changing expectations or business needs can all present opportunities for a product’s continued improvement. Adaptation and ongoing support can significantly improve usability, user affinity, and user loyalty — pillars of an outstanding and successful product.
